An addition to an existing home within walking distance to the ocean, this project incorporates a new garage and master bedroom suite. A link between the new and old will house a new entrance and mudroom. The existing home will be modified to open up the “public” spaces of the living, dining, and kitchen, expanding into the previous front porch. The addition will be sheathed in a wrapper of wood shingles – enabling a certain autonomous reading – while also visually connected to the existing using lap siding to clad the secondary surfaces.
