Located in Cambridge, 9 Dana Street is located off of Massachusetts Avenue, a short walk from Central Cambridge and Harvard Square. Built in 1915, it still maintains much of its historic detailing.
As a sister project to Webster Avenue, Kripper Studio was tapped by Rafi Properties in 2018 to begin a complete renovation of the building to accommodate contemporary living. The interior layouts were completely reorganized to accommodate 25 units while preserving the historic character of the exterior. The interior renovations also included the incorporation of 2 fully ADA-accessible units.
The renovation also included the coordinated addition of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems allowing for modern bathrooms and kitchens as well as air conditioning units to be seamlessly included.
While preserving the detailing of the facade, Kripper Studio replaced damaged windows and repaired and repointed masonry. Finally, an ADA accessible walkway and lift was seamlessly incorporated along the entryway to coincide with the interior ADA-accessible units. These modern additions still maintain and respect the building’s long history as it enters its next chapter.
